It makes his character development all the more special, because he starts trusting and loving her, ultimately gaining human emotions and truly learning mercy.
It’s a smooth transition, because he definitely doesn’t pull punches in the beginning, but for me at least, it was important to keep in mind the fact that he’s an otherwordly being who was trying to dole out what he thought was vengeance/mercy.
